No news is good news, but so to is good news, good news

I received welcome and good news this last week in the form of an offer letter of employment.  I have accepted a position with Kaiser Permanente in Lafayette, CO in the orthopedics department.  My last day with Geisinger will be May 16.  We'll move, take a brief vacation, and find a place to live, before starting work on June 9.  Warren and I are super duper excited!

Spring into the season

We had our first absolutely beautiful weekend of the season this past weekend.  Warren and I took full advantage despite the fact that I had to round Saturday and Sunday mornings.  We spent Saturday out in the fields practicing our archery skills.  I'm no Katniss Everdeen, but it sure has been a fun sport to take up.  Saturday evening we went over to a friends for a BBQ. There was a good turnout of people and we had a nice time eating, drinking and chatting with friends.

Sunday we went to Rickett's Glenn State Park for the first hike of the season.  The weather couldn't have been more beautiful: early 80's, sunny, low humidity and with only the slightest of breezes.  It was wonderful.  The trail we took was technically closed due to a remaining coat of ice on the trails.  We, and many other groups, decided to chance it anyway.  We encountered only a little bit of ice as we made our way to the top of the trail; it was by no means impassible.  We did not however make all the way to the top.  We were nearly there when on the trail ahead we saw a pair of girls who had disgruntled looks upon their faces, waiting for a park ranger to finish writing something down.  I may have mis-read the situation, but it struck me as a scene of ticket writing for hiking a closed path.  Warren and I didn't stick around to test those waters.  We made it down without incident and rounded out a lovely weekend with burgers and a shake at May's drive-in.
